How to Use Android Phone as a Webcam


At present, video conferences are widely used by students and employers. Most laptops come with built-in webcams, and some of them are of low quality, and some of them are of high quality. But desktops do not. You have to connect a webcam to the desktop before a video conference. Web cameras are often expensive. If you have an Android phone, you can temporarily use it as your webcam. In this guide, we are talking about how to use an Android phone as a webcam.

There are several ways to do this. To do this, we use the DroidCam app and software. Because most of the pc users use the DroidCam for this. DroidCam has free and paid versions. The free version is enough for this work.

Step 1

First of all, install the DroidCam app on your Android phone and install the software on your Windows computer. You can download the DroidCam app to Android phones by using this link (Play Store). And you can download the DroidCam Client to Windows OS by using this link. Make sure to download the DroidCam Client with the Android support version.


Step 2

Open then DroidCam app on your Android Phone. You will see your IP address.


Then go to the settings on the app and select the preferred camera option.

Step 3

Open the PC software and enter the IP address on shows on the Android app. Also, enter the Port and enable the Video and Audio.


Step 4

Click the start button. Almost done. Now your Android phone work as a webcam. You can see the webcam on the software interface.

Checking if this works like a normal webcam

  • Go to the Webcamtests.com¬†website and click on the ‘Test My Cam’ button.
  • Now the browser will popup a permission box. Click the Allow button.


  • Now you can see your camera details at the left panel.


If you have another camera, sometimes it working as the default webcam. To change it,

  • Click on the small camera icon on the address bar.


  • Click on the Manage button.


  • Now you can change the webcam on this page.

If you haven’t a wifi connection, try the USB method.
