How to Optimize Settings for Gaming in Windows 10


Modern computer games have many features in comparison to the old computer games. In order to play them well, you need to have the required computer features the games need on your PC. Most computer gamers use Windows as their operating system. Newest Windows 10 operating system is more optimized for gamers. As we well know, all operating systems apply a considerable amount of RAM, processor, and other components to function. The most frequently used scenarios are visual effects and background apps. In this guide, we are talking about how to optimize settings for gaming in Windows 10.

Keep your system up to date.

As I mentioned before, Windows is the operating system most computer gamers use. Therefore, Microsoft has added many settings to the Windows operating system for gaming. Updating Windows on a regular basis will make your computer run smoothly. To update Windows 10, go to Settings (Windows key + I) > Update and Security > Windows update and click the ‘Check for updates‘ button.


Keep your hardware drivers up to date.

This is just as important as Windows Update. Hardware manufacturers are releasing updates to improve their hardware performance—also, they add new features to them. The important and first thing to do when updating your hardware is to update the GPU drivers. Most of the drivers’ software have auto-updating settings. If not, you can update drivers by downloading the newest drivers from manufacturers’ websites.

Turn on Windows Game mode.

The game mode is an innovation for implemented to boost gaming performance and works. This is not to say that game mode is a magic solution. But that improves PC performance and hardware usage for gaming. To turn on Windows Game mode, follow the steps below.

  • Go to Settings (Windows key + I) > Gaming > Game mode.
  • Turn on the Game mode button from it.


Turn off Visual Effects

Doing this, you can free up hardware resources usage. Not just for computer games, anyone can do this to making the computer faster. To do this, follow the steps below.

  • Open the start menu and type ‘Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows‘ to find the setting.


  • Select the ‘Adjust for best performance option‘ and then click the apply button.


Use High-Performance Power Mode

If you are using Windows 10 on a device with a battery, you may notice it will automatically change the power mode to power-saving mode. Also, typical situations windows operating system change to their power mode to standard usage. You can switch it to High-Performance mode. Follow these steps.

  • Right-click on the Start menu button and click on the system.
  • Go to Power & Sleep > Additional Power Settings.
  • In the Power Options window, select the High-Performance option.
