When we connect to a WiFi network, the computer saves that password for the first time. Not only computers but also mobile phones do this thing. The next time you click the Connect button, you can connect to the WiFi network without having to ask for a password. Easy, right? But there are some problems. Once the password is saved, anyone who can use the computer can easily retrieve the password. It can be a significant threat to the security of your network. Also, when you temporarily connect to your personal WiFi network from another computer, you need to delete it from that computer. In this guide, we are talking about how to forget a WiFi network on the Windows 10 operating system.

I have posted another guide about how to view saved WiFi passwords on Windows 10. Do not use it for theft or unauthorized use. You can read it using the following link.

Windows 7 had a graphical method to do this from ‘Manage Wireless Netowork’ in the control panel. But In Windows 8, the graphical option had removed this option, and users had to use CMD (Command Prompt) to forget WiFi passwords. In the Windows 10, this can be done in several ways, including graphical methods and a CMD method.

Method 1 – From the WiFi menu in the taskbar

This is the easiest and the quickest way to forget a WiFi network you connected. But this method can only be used if you have the connected WiFi network you want to forget in your area at the moment. Follow these steps.

  • Click the WiFi / Network icon in the notification area (If you have not changed, it is usually on the right edge of the taskbar).
  • Once opened the WiFi network list, right-click on the network you want to forget and click the Forget option.

After doing these steps, you can try again to connect that network again. It will ask the password again to join it.

Method 2 – From the Windows Settings

The problem with the first method does not occur with this method. This method allows you to forget any WiFi network connected before, even if you do not have the WiFi network that you want to forget at your location. Follow these steps.

  • Press the Windows key + I to open the control panel and then go into the Network & Internet section.
  • Go to the WiFi option using the left side pane.
  • Click the Manage known networks link in the WiFi section.

  • Now you can see the list of WiFi networks that ever connected to your computer. Choose the network you want to forget and click the Forget button.

Method 3 – From using the Command Prompt (CMD)

This method is slightly harder than the other two methods. Follow these steps.

  • Open the start menu and type Command Prompt.
  • After showing the results, right-click on the Command prompt and click the Run as administrator option.
